In several tests conducted, Bitdefender got six points in all three tests for protection, performance, and usability, and these 18 points managed to beat other advanced security solutions developed by Kaspersky and Symantec. Kaspersky ranked second with a total of 17.5 points, followed by Symantec with the same number of points. AVG happened to secure fourth place with 16.5 points. If these antivirus programs are a bit steep for your budget, then you can always resort to using Windows Defender, which scored a total of 14 points in the test.
Out of the several tests conducted, Avast Free Antivirus 2016 got 6 out of 6 points for protection and usability but obtained only 4.5 points for performance. AVG Internet Security received 5.5 points for protection, 5 points of performance, and 6 for usability.
Windows Defender, which comes with the Windows 10 OS suite, is often considered the baseline of antivirus tests, but this time, it received 3 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 5.5 points for usability. This leads to a total score of 13.5 points out of a maximum of 18, which is not a bad result by any means.
